In conjunction with prison reform and rehabilitation efforts under the Think Prisons 360 initiative, the Ankaful Main Camp Prison has hosted its inaugural award ceremony, recognizing inmates for their diligence, discipline, consistent hard work, talent development and creativity.
The program, spearheaded by Chief Superintendent Of Prisons (CSP) Linda Anyeema-Ma Apore, the Officer-In-Cahrge of the Ankaful Main Camp Prison, took place onFriday, 2nd January, 2026, and aimed at motivating well-behaved inmates to excel while serving as a model for others to emulate.
Sharing some motivating factors behind the award scheme, CSP Apore noted that it centered on how effectively the rehabilitation and reformation exercises have been integrated by inmates, including how inmates maintain hygiene and enhance sanitary conditions in the various cells and blocks.
Again, the award was designed to motivate inmates who have demonstrated discipline in their various fields of training, with the goal of guiding them on the right path to continue, while encouraging others to follow their positive example. “The transfer of industry skills and learning was rewarded to motivate them to remain in the training centers and also become role models for others”, CSP Apore explained.
To promote community development and creativity, the Main Camp Awards event also provided inmates with an opportunity to showcase their talents in various sporting disciplines, including football and volleyball.
In recognition of their individual and collective efforts, the Overall Best Cell received a 32-inch LED television set and The Neatest Cellreceived an industrial wall fan as prizes. On sporting activities, the winning football and volleyball teams were awarded trophies in recognition of their efforts.
The most diligent inmate in the Agric Department and the kitchens also received an award, while other categories were honoured with trophies, medals, personal hygiene products, and assorted food items, amongst others.
Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Linda Anyeema-Ma Apore, the Officer-In-Charge of Ankaful Main Camp Prison, utilized the opportunity to request public visitation to the prisons in order to check up on their families.
Again, she passionately appealed to the general public to support the Prisons by patronizing the Prisons’ products (Prindbuz Limited) and also make meaningful contributions to the PISPES fund. As part of the Think Prisons 360 initiative, she urged all stakeholders to support the prisons, particularly the Ankaful Main Campprojects, to achieve the desired impact.
